Strength, Speed, and Recovery Program:
Thank you for inquiring about the Legacy Beach Strength, Speed, and Recovery class. This program has been developed by Dr. Joel Kelley, and will be specialized to the athlete’s ability level (strength, athleticism, jumping history, etc.). The premise behind this program is to help the athlete become independent in maintaining strength and speed while prioritizing the appropriate recovery to assist with optimal performance.
Joel Kelley is a licensed physical therapist who conducted his doctoral research in vertical leap and athletic movements. He is a vertical leap specialist and has trained many athletes at all levels, covering a broad range of sports at varying levels of proficiency, improving their strength, athleticism, while decreasing risk of injury.
This program is designed to meet the athlete where he/she is currently at in their athletic journey. This program will span over 4 weeks of intensive interval training in the sand, utilizing varying resistances to help improve the athlete’s strength, speed and explosion, mentality training, and recovery strategies.
The program will include two direct days of training at Legacy Beach Volleyball Club, and an at home weekend program that will be posted to coach Joel’s YouTube channel. Workouts that are performed with Joel at Legacy Beach will be made available per request in the event an athlete misses a session. No makeup classes will be offered in the event of a missed class. It is important for the athlete to participate fully in the program for optimal results. In the event that weather interrupts the scheduled class, there will be make-up classes offered for rain outs.
Please keep in mind that this program is designed to maintain and potentially increase the speed, quickness, power, and strength of the athlete while being “in season”, while still prioritizing the appropriate recovery strategies for optimal performance during in season matches and tournaments. It is important that the athletes utilize the appropriate recovery strategies and take accountability for their recovery and their performance. The tools that will be taught in this program can be utilized throughout the lifespan to maintain/improve athletic performance, strength, and health.
